The Internet and the World Wide Web is essentially a part of our everyday lives. It is of vital importance for businesses to utilize it as a medium to connect with their customers and audiences. With that in mind, the Computer Science Society of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Penang Branch Campus organised a web page design competition to promote the ideas of coding and web design, as well as to search for the best design by students to be used in place of the Penang Branch's current web page.

The competition which was called “TAR-U-Code” is a semester-spanning event which took about six weeks starting from the registration up to the final prize giving ceremony. Participants were given a sufficient amount of time to sketch, code and build their web pages. This is to ensure the outcome of the project would meet the quality requirements specified.

A total of sixteen (16) teams registered and in the semi-finals, the teams submitted their web design for the first round presentation. Competition judges were Mr. Kang Hean Yong, Ms. Ong Leng Leng and Ms. Loo Sze Phei. Three (3) teams with the highest scores managed to qualify for the final round. The final round team of judges comprised of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toh Guat Guan, TARUC Penang Branch Campus Head, Mr. Nikalus Swee, the Programme Leader of the Faculty of Applied Science and Computing, together with Ms. Kee Sim Ee and Ms. Ng Hooi Jin. The participants handled themselves well and were able to provide intelligent and convincing answers for questions about the concepts and applications of the design that were selected by them.

At the end of the competition, ‘Zero-Code’ emerged as the second runner up while ‘Team Master’ came in as the first-runner up. The championship title was won by ‘Team Jasper’ from 2DIA2.
