Launching Ceremony of the 22nd Community Sociology Programme [2018]

The Community Sociology Advisory Group (CS Advisory Group) of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC), Penang Branch Campus, held a launching ceremony on 3 October 2018 to send 56 Community Sociology (CS) members to conduct four-day motivational camps for two rural primary schools under the 22nd Community Sociology Programme [2018].
The students, who are diploma students from various programmes are divided into two groups with 28 people in each group. Each group will be sent to a rural primary school to facilitate motivational programmes and fun learning activities in order to motivate rural primary school students to pursue their tertiary studies.
The mission of the community sociology programme is to:
Cultivate the reading habit in rural area students and to increase their awareness of the importance of tertiary education
Nurture and create a caring society
Instill civic mindedness in our undergraduates
Instill good values in our undergraduates
125 rural primary school students will enjoy ice-breaking games and fun motivational activities designed to help them better understand the importance of tertiary education.
The community sociology project provides an opportunity for TAR UC students to interact as mentors and role models for 45 Year 4 to Year 6 students from SRJK(C) Yu Chai (Kuala Kurau, Perak) and 80 Year 4 to Year 6 students from SRJK(C) Sin Min, Kulim (Kedah).
