On 26th October 2018, the FOBE department together with the QS Society, Penang Branch Campus, held a QS Educational Visit event. This event was attended by students and lecturers from TAR UC Main Campus, TAR UC Penang Branch Campus, USM and Kolej Laila Taib. The event, which ran for half a day, included a talk by the guest speaker, Mr. Kang Pee Thye, and a short competition held for the student attendees.

The purpose of the event was to encourage quantity surveying students from public and private institutions of different cultural backgrounds and religions to mingle and to get to know each other. It is hoped that this will indirectly enhance greater networking amongst the students during their studies and in the near future when they enter the construction industry. Lecturers may also have the chance to initiate future collaborations in research, conferences, etc. 

This event is aligned with the objectives of the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM) to encourage more of these events where students and lecturers can come together and exchange ideas to enhance the quality of the quantity surveying programme’s educational ecosystem.
