Date: 25 June 2021

Time: 3 pm to 4 pm

Venue: Palm Oil TV’s Facebook Live

The Penang Sustainable Development Society (SDG) collaborated with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) to organize a webinar entitled “Healthy Eating with Malaysian Palm Oil”. Two speakers, Mr. Lucas Lim, a dietician and the co-founder of Dietician90, and Ms. Anna Zulkifli, an executive from the Science, Environment & Sustainability Division of MPOC, spoke at length on the topic during the one-hour webinar.

The main objective of the webinar was to increase the awareness of TAR UC students on the health benefits and sustainability of Malaysian palm oil. The first speaker, Mr. Lucas Lim, explained about the nutritional benefits of palm oil and the reasons to use palm oil as the first choice for cooking. Besides, Ms. Anna Zulkifli highlighted that Malaysian palm oil is a highly regulated industry to ensure its environmental sustainability and countered some of the arguments frequently mentioned in anti-palm oil campaigns.

The engaging session attracted 412 students, with a lively Q&A session. Both speakers answered multiple questions from TAR UC students. In all, the webinar is very informative and has achieved its objective of promoting greater awareness on the health benefits and environmental sustainability of Malaysian palm oil.
